In Hopeston (a suburb of Autumn Bay), in Calliope Square, across the old brick road from Warm Welcome (the coffee shop where they have live music every Friday and Saturday night) and right next to Black Spiral (the record store), you can find Old Leaves, a used bookstore. Behind the counter, you will most often find Aaron Norton, the proprietor. And let's hope that you're actually there to buy something, because he will remind you, very pointedly, that Old Leaves is NOT a library.

Aaron is a grumpy old bastard, but he wasn't always that way. Back in the '60s, he was a bright-eyed idealist, looking to change the world. He was a protester and a proponent of free love and peace.

When his brother enlisted, it was like a slap in the face. His protests became more vehement, even taking up with a mysterious individual known as Captain Happy (who espoused a general attitude of mischief to "wake people up and put a smile on their face" - and no, this isn't Nesariel we're talking about).

Eventually, the dream of peace and love died, and Aaron Norton was a bitter, bitter man. Along with his best friend Ezekiel Corvus, he did some damage, taking up dark magic in a drug-addled haze (like a pair of latter-day Aleister Crowleys).

A "chance encounter" with Nesariel, the rediscovery of his brother, and abandonment by Ezekiel knocked Aaron off this path. He opened up the bookstore and settled down (though he was no less bitter for it). He has even taken to ensuring young and "talented" individuals (read: mages) don't follow his path.

Oh man, what an interesting character. I really like his design and the story that goes with him. Has he had any encounters with Ghoul? O:

And no, he hasn't really encountered Ghoul... yet. They are either going to get along famously or try to tear each other's heads off. (I plan on Ghoul meeting most of the magical movers and shakers in and around Autumn Bay, so it WILL happen).

When all this noise is over, you owe your cast wiki some serious love.

*deep, heavy sigh*

Yes, I am aware of that. The Wiki, the TVTropes page, the "Welcome to Autumn Bay" page... soooo many projects.

Once my current round is done, I'm seriously going to lay low for a stretch as far as most forum-based projects go. I'm thinking "only the big ones", like the exchanges.

Maybe I should be loading these into the wiki as I go...

If I were you'd drop permalinks to these pages and call it good... incidentally, "maintenance" such as this is a big part of why I'm not interested in a wiki myself. And it's also why I'm so glad to hijack yours.
